Silk Jackets and Ruanas

I just made the following jackets from burn-out velvet.  The velvet gives the fabric an iridescent appearance.

One of the things I enjoy making most is a ruana, or silk poncho.  Because they are large I have a broad canvas to create on.  The challenge is to paint, using fiber reactive dyes, on a large rectangular surface, keeping in mind how it will eventually drape on one's body when it is worn.  The following are examples of some of the ruanas I have made.  I also enjoy creating new patterns and designs and am open to working with you to make something unique.  Please email me at: silks@artscoop.com to talk about it.
